昨日は息子の小学校の卒業式でした。
嬉しく、感慨深く、そして儚さも感じた、そんな一日。
大きなランドセルを背負って校門の前に立っていた男の子は、もう母の背を越す勢いにまで成長し、立派に自分の意見を言えるように成長しました。母としてここまでの成長を見届けられていること、息子もしっかり健康に育ってくれていること、これ以上の喜びはあるでしょうか。
もちろん日々いろんなことがあり、喧嘩したり言い合いになったりと、まぁそれはそれは騒々しかったりはしますが、元気でいてくれることが一番の幸せです。

私がこう思うようになったのは、子供ができる1年半前に亡くなった最愛の母のおかげ。ブログでも何回か書かせていただいてますが、20代で大事な大事な人を亡くした経験は、私の人生に衝撃を与え、健康でいること、元気で過ごせることへの有り難みを何十倍にも感じさせてくれるものとなりました。
当たり前の毎日は決して当たり前ではない。
そう思えば、日常生活の些細な問題なんて本当ちっぽけなもの。母が亡くなって約１年半後にお腹に宿った長男は、空からしっかり見てくれているだろう母のおかげもあって、立派に成長してくれました。
そして、そんな一日もあっという間に終わってしまう、そんな儚さも感じた今日。大切な日、幸せな日、苦しい日だって、一日はあっという間です。時間は止められない。
だからこそ、毎日を大切に、時間を大切に、無駄にせず過ごしたいと思っています。

Yesterday was my son’s elementary school graduation ceremony.
It was a day that made me feel happy, emotional, and fleeting.
The boy who stood in front of the school gates with his big backpack on his back has now grown to be taller than his mother and is now able to express his opinions. As a mother, I couldn’t be happier to witness my son’s growth and to see him grow up healthy.
Of course, there are all kinds of things that happen every day, and we fight and argue, so it can be quite noisy, but I am happiest when he is healthy.
I owe this to my beloved mother, who passed away a year before I had a child. As I have written about this several times on my blog, the experience of losing someone very important to me in my twenties had a huge impact on my life and made me feel dozens of times more grateful for being healthy and able to live a healthy life.
The everyday things that we take for granted are never taken for granted.
When you think about it like that, the small problems of everyday life are really insignificant. My eldest son, conceived one year after my mother passed away, has grown up to be a fine young man, thanks in part to my mother who must be watching over us from heaven.
Today, I also felt how fleeting a day can end in the blink of an eye. Whether it’s an important day, a happy day, or a painful day, the day passes by in the blink of an eye. Time cannot be stopped.
That is why I want to cherish each day, cherish my time, and spend it without wasting it.
