あっという間にクリスマスになった。２０２４年のクリスマス。
ふと去年はどうしていたのかと思い出してみても一向に思い出せない。2023年なんてついこの間だと思うけれど、確実に月日は立っているのだ。そこで、手帳を見返してみた。去年の25日は月曜日だったらしい。
我が家では24日にクリスマスの一通りのイベントをして、25日は通常に戻っていたようである。
こんな感じで、時間は確実に過ぎていく。
毎日忙しく、目の前のことに追われていると、1年という時間もただの「通り過ぎるもの」になってしまうのかもしれない。
こういう時、手帳なり日記なり写真なりで記録をつけておいて良かったと感じる。記録は、忙しさの中で埋もれてしまった時間を掘り起こすような感覚がある。その日、自分が何をしていたのか、どんな気持ちで過ごしていたのか、普段は忘れてしまうような些細なことでも、記録を見返すことで、当時の空気感がふわっと蘇る瞬間がある。それだけでも、なんだか過ぎ去った時間が少し温かみを持って感じられるから不思議だ。
ただ過ぎていく時間に「意味」を与えるのは、自分自身なんだろう。記録を残すことで、「その時どうだったか」を振り返る余地が生まれ、忙しさの中でも「ちゃんと生きていた」自分に気づくことができる。
時間は確実に過ぎていくけれど、その一つ一つを大切に刻むことで、過去が輝きを持ち、未来に繋がっていく。

It’s already Christmas. Christmas 2024.
I suddenly remember what I did last year, but I can’t quite remember. 2023 seems like a very recent year, but time has certainly passed. So I looked back at my planner. Apparently the 25th of last year was a Monday.
It seems that all the Christmas events were held on the 24th, and the 25th was back to normal.
Like this, time surely passes.
If you are busy every day and are chased by what is in front of you, a year may just “pass by”.
At times like this, I feel glad that I kept a record in my planner, diary, or photos. Recording feels like digging up time that has been buried in the midst of busyness. There are moments when the atmosphere of that time comes back to me by looking back at the record, even for trivial things that I would normally forget, such as what I did that day and how I felt. Just that alone makes the time that has passed feel a little warmer, which is interesting.
It is we ourselves who give meaning to the time that just passes. By keeping records, we can look back on how it was at that time and realize that we were living properly even when we are busy.
Time certainly passes, but by carefully recording each moment, the past shines and connects to the future.
